Vorollo is recruiting on behalf of a confidential employer - a commercial fish processing and offloading facility in Port Edward, BC (15-20 min from Prince Rupert).
This is a skilled equipment role on a working dock. You'll operate a HIAB crane and winch system to offload commercial fishing vessels through a season that runs early spring to early winter.
What You'll Be Doing
- Operate HIAB crane and winch to offload commercial fishing vessels
- Lower and lift pallets, large boat equipment, and gear as directed
- Load and unload ice onto boat decks and into hatches
- Complete daily equipment inspection sheets
- Perform regular upkeep and cleaning of crane and winch
- Clean the dock area after each offload
- Assist with fish grading or processing during slower periods
- Winter months: general facility maintenance, painting, and support tasks
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Hands-on experience with a HIAB crane, high-up crane, or marine winch
- Ability to pass an in-house written and practical assessment (annual review)
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong safety awareness on an active dock
- Physical fitness for an active outdoor role
- Local to Prince Rupert / Port Edward - or fully prepared to self-relocate with housing secured before start date
Note: No external certification currently required - in-house training available for the right candidate.
Assets:
- Valid forklift certification - strong asset
- Experience in marine, commercial fishing, or dock environments
Compensation & Details
- Pay: $20.00 - $24.00/hr based on experience
- Substantial OT available during peak season
- Medical and dental benefits after 6-month probation
