Scansa Construction Ltd. is growing their Civil Division, specializing in underground utilities, roadworks, municipal infrastructure, and site development projects throughout the Greater Victoria area.
We are seeking a versatile and team-oriented Civil Labourer who is willing to contribute wherever needed to support the civil construction crew. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in being part of a productive team, and is eager to learn and develop within the civil construction industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation of underground utilities, including sanitary, storm, water, hydro, telecommunications, and electrical systems
- Support pipelayers, equipment operators, and foremen with daily construction activities
- Perform site preparation for curbs, sidewalks, concrete works, and site servicing projects
- Operate and maintain various hand tools and small equipment, including cut-off saws, slab saws, compaction equipment, and utility locating equipment
- Assist with traffic and pedestrian control around active construction sites
- Perform proper rigging and signaling practices when working around equipment and materials
- Load, unload, organize, and maintain tools, materials, and equipment
- Perform hand grading, site cleanup, and other labour duties as required
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Work closely with foremen, operators, pipelayers, and fellow crew members to complete projects safely and efficiently
Qualifications
- Previous construction experience is considered an asset
- Experience working with underground utility and pipe crews is considered an asset
- Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification is considered an asset
- Familiarity with construction tools and equipment is an asset
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License is required
- Strong understanding of safe work practices and willingness to work safely at all times
- Willingness to learn new skills and support the crew wherever needed
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to producing quality work
- Physically capable of performing demanding manual labour in varying weather conditions
Employment Wages/Incentives
- Compensation: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour, based on experience, technical knowledge, versatility, and proven ability to contribute as a member of the civil construction crew
- Overtime is paid as per Employment Standards
