Mechanical Designer
Napier-Reid is currently seeking a Mechanical Designer to support Sales, Applications, Production and Project Management teams through the development of drawings, technical documentation, and design tools. The focus of the position will be to manage the technical aspects of several ongoing unique projects. The candidate will be required to communicate effectively with others in the organization as well as vendors and customers. Occasional site visits or travel within the USA and Canada may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 3D modeling and CAD generation for new parts or assemblies.
- Generate fabrication packages for parts and assemblies.
- Generate sales drawings including general arrangements, footprints, and layouts.
- Work closely with vendors to obtain technical data.
- Generation of Bill of Materials
- Assist Project Engineering with submittal packages for customer review and approval.
- Update drawings and designs based on feedback from customers, vendors, and manufacturing.
- Maintain latest drawings, parts and assembly models in the required database.
- Part sourcing and selection of new equipment.
- Validation and quality assurance and control of manufactured products.
- Develop and write procedures and work instructions for various tasks.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency with Autodesk Inventor software.
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical design.
- Experience designing and fabricating metal structures such as walkways, platforms, and open top tanks.
- Experience with Autodesk Vault will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of design standards and regulations – ASTM/ANSI/API.
- Self-motivated, ability to learn new skills, assume new responsibilities and work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Experience in mechanical equipment design preferred.
- Experience in the water and wastewater industry.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, above-average mechanical aptitude, and the ability to interact with a diverse customer base.
- Ability to manage quality and schedule of time sensitive deliverables with minimal oversite.
You may be asked to submit your high-quality designs for review by our current team, either a fabrication or sales drawing. You will not be selected for an interview without submitting at least 1 piece of your work.
