Overview
The 310T mechanic is required to perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance to engines and trailers. The 310T Mechanic will have the ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well have the ability to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs. Other duties may be assigned as required.
Duties
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment in accordance with 310T standards
- Perform preventive maintenance services including oil changes, lubrication, and safety inspections
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Repair and overhaul major components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, brake systems, and suspensions
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, and electronic controls
- Conduct brake, safety, and MTO inspections to ensure compliance with regulations
- Test drive vehicles to verify repairs and ensure safe operation
- Complete detailed work orders, accurately recording labour time, parts, and materials used
- Install and service auxiliary equipment such as liftgates, compressors, and generators
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company and regulatory standards
- Communicate effectively with the Service Manager and team members regarding repair status and safety concerns
- Stay current with evolving technology, diagnostic procedures, and industry best practices
- Support team operations by contributing to efficiency, quality workmanship, and reduced turnaround times
- Perform other duties as required
Experience
- Valid 310T Truck & Coach Technician License (Red Seal or Journeyman certification required)
- Minimum 2* years of experience* as a 310T Mechanic
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Strong mechanical knowledge, including hydraulic and electrical systems, schematics, and diagnostics
- Experience performing routine maintenance and inspections
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Professional, reliable, and able to work effectively in a team environment
