MCG Careers, Inc. is seeking a Structural Steel Line Operator/Machine Operator on behalf of our employer partner under the Winning Edge-Workplace Training Program. The company is an established steel manufacturing company in Calgary.
The company is looking for hard working and reliable individuals looking to start a career in the manufacturing industry. The successful candidate(s) will receive on the job training and gain skills necessary to operate the specialized Daito Seiki CNC machines. This will support the advancement of your duties and hourly rate beyond the starting rate offered.
This position requires excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
Responsibilities for setting up, operating, and maintaining machines in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines.
Daily job tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Reading mechanical drawings/blueprints
- Cutting, Punching, Drilling or otherwise shaping and forming metal stock into parts/products
- Following verbal instructions
- Quality checking of products for correct shapes, dimensions, and other necessary specifications
- Select and transport material to work area, manually or using crane and/or hoist
- Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, lubricating equipment
- Follow safety protocols and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist with troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Work as part of a team to meet production goals.
Qualifications Required:
- Appropriate mechanical sense
- Mechanical training – such as mechanical engineering
- Computer programming experience
- CNC /NMC programmer and operator
- Experience carrying out preventative maintenance on CNC machines
- Following manufacturers and safety guidelines
- Knowledge of blueprints, reading/interpreting
- Understanding measuring devices
- Knowledgeable of quality assurance practices (ISO 9001)
- Time management skills
- Accuracy operating the machine, to minimize production errors
- Keen eye for quality control, specially in a fast-paced environment
- Problem solving skills
- Collaborative
- Good work ethic, reliable and punctual
- Assertive communication with supervisor
Education:
- Secondary School (required)
Winning Edge – Workplace Training Program Requirements
To qualify for this opportunity through the Winning Edge Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen.
- Must be unemployed at the time of intake.
- Ready, willing, and able to work full-time (up to 40 hours/week).
- Not a current student or enrolled in any program or school.
