EFry Hope and Help provides trauma-informed, inclusive and gender-responsive programs and services to support women and girls at risk or involved in the legal system in building stable lives.
We are recruiting a Community Re-entry Caseworker for Liz’s Place. Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Caseworker supports clients in identifying, understanding, and addressing personal challenges while working toward their individual goals. Through both individual and group programming, the Re-Entry Worker enhances clients’ quality of life by ensuring their physical, social, educational, medical, and related needs are met.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Interviews clients to prepare detailed case management plans to support the client’s goals.
2. Monitor clients and the facility to maintain safety for all, maintain a stable environment, and respond quickly when needs or risks arise.
3. Provides clients with basic life-skills coaching and behaviour-management support; facilitates physical, recreational, social, and educational activities; serves as a positive role model; and plans, prepares, and leads weekly house meetings and one-to-one support sessions to help residents set goals and work toward achieving them.
4. Provides clients with emotional support and constructive feedback and assists them in building the skills and confidence needed for successful integration and healthy functioning in the community.
5. Completes required client and program reports and statistics, ensuring all documentation is accurate, thorough, and up to date.
6. Identifies community-based social, recreational, and educational services that meet clients’ needs, and builds effective working relationships with agencies, professionals, government partners, and community organizations.
7. Actively oversees daily residence operations by checking cleaning equipment, addressing indoor and outdoor maintenance needs, managing inventory, and coordinating food services to ensure consistent quality, safety, and readiness across the facility.
8. Performs light housekeeping tasks, contributes to planning the meal schedule, and assists with meal preparation and food-inventory management as needed.
9. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of community resources that support residents’ needs and provides liaison, education, and advocacy with community agencies, professionals, and neighbours on issues affecting residents.
10. Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two-year post-secondary education, in a related human/social service field or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required for this position.
- Two years’ previous direct program delivery experience in the community social services sector with demonstrated working knowledge of a specific community-based program and related provincial and community support is required.
- Knowledge of mental health issues & legislation pertaining to alcohol and drug issues, child protection issues, and issues related to poverty and landlord tenant acts.
- Knowledge of legislation policies and procedures pertaining to areas such as Provincial and Federal Parole, the Correction Services of Canada, Ontario Corrections, Income Assistance, and the Landlord Tenants Act.
MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Standard First Aid / CPR certification.
- Evidence of a Tuberculosis Test and compliance with the TB Control Program.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Review (Vulnerable Sector Check).
- Ability to lift 30 pounds.
- Doctors note of fitness to perform the duties of the job.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license, with satisfactory driving record (Preferred)
