Earthworks Foreman
Position Summary
The Earthworks Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating field operations related to earthworks, site servicing, and civil construction projects. The role ensures that work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
This position operates on a rotational basis at remote project sites. Camp accommodations, meals, and travel are provided. Experience with sewer and water infrastructure installation is considered a strong asset.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct crews performing excavation, grading, and earthworks operations
- Coordinate daily work activities, including labour, equipment, and materials
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements
- Monitor site conditions and adjust work plans to maintain productivity and safety
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, surveyors, and subcontractors
- Oversee dewatering, erosion control, and drainage measures as required
- Track daily production, labour hours, and project progress
- Maintain daily reports and communicate updates to project leadership
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and operation of equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient worksite
Sewer & Water (Asset)
- Oversee or support installation of watermain, valves, and fire hydrants
- Oversee or support installation of sanitary sewer, forcemains, and service connections
- Ensure trenching, bedding, and backfilling are completed in accordance with specifications
- Coordinate with survey and inspection teams to verify line and grade
- Assist with testing, commissioning, and system start-up activities
Health & Safety
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on site
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures
- Lead daily tailgate meetings and hazard assessments
- Ensure safe work practices are followed, including trench safety and confined space requirements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction or earthworks
- Previous foreman or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, and compaction practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Assets
- Experience with water and sewer installation
- Experience working in remote or northern environments
- Knowledge of dewatering and deep utility installation
- Relevant safety certifications (First Aid, WHMIS, etc.)
Working Conditions
- Rotational work schedule at remote project locations

Compensation & Benefits
- Overtime (1.5x) payable after 50 hours per week
- 12 hour working days
- Health benefits available following a 3-month probation period
- Wage dependent on qualifications
