Position Overview
A Hand Solder Operator is responsible for manually connecting electronic components using hand soldering techniques to ensure product quality and functionality. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of electronic components and assembly processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and solder electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs) or other electrical equipment according to technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain soldering tools and equipment, including soldering irons, hot air guns, and rework stations. Perform cleaning, fluxing, tinning, and routine maintenance.
- Inspect finished products for defects (e.g., thread breaks, tension issues, misalignment) and perform corrections or rework as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve soldering-related issues during the manufacturing process, collaborating with production or engineering teams.
- Maintain accurate records of production output, inspection reports, and material usage logs.
- Adhere to Ontario workplace safety protocols (OHSA) and company procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to implement process improvements and contribute to efficient production.
Skills Required
- Proficiency in hand soldering techniques (through-hole and surface-mount technology).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
- Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers and multimeters.
- Strong inspection and quality control skills to detect and correct defects.
- Effective documentation and reporting skills for production and compliance records.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small electronic components.
- Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve soldering issues quickly and effectively.
- Reliability and punctuality in meeting production schedules.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving production needs and technologies.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically with hand soldering techniques.
- Knowledge of electronic components, soldering processes, and assembly standards.
- Familiarity with Ontario workplace safety standards and WHMIS regulations.
- Afternoon Shift: 4:00p.m. to Midnight
