Columbia Containers specializes in transloading grain from rail cars to ocean containers while ensuring deadlines are met. This process involves coordinating four critical elements in the supply chain:
1) The arrival of grain via rail.
2) Availability of empty containers from shipping lines.
3) Plant capacity to transload the grain.
4) Trucking services to pick up empty containers and deliver the load to terminals in the PMV area.
Columbia Containers is currently seeking an Company Driver for local container driver delivering containers within the lower mainland and driving a B-train yard truck within Columbia Containers property. This Teamsters union Company Driver position may require evening work and overtime from time to time. Drivers must be able to work Mondays-Saturdays on an on-call basis, normal Day shift starts at 6 am- 2pm and the Afternoon shift starts at 2 pm to 10 pm; 30-40+ hours per week.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience and Skills:
- Preferred candidates would have at least 1 year of previous Port/container experience but for the right individual training would be provided.
- Must possess BC Driver License Class 1 with air brakes.
- Must have a mobile device that can be used for communicating with dispatch office.
- Must have a safety conscious attitude and be skilled with pre/post trip inspections, NSC regulations and provincial scale requirements.
- Clean Driver's Abstract: *please attach your commercial driver's abstract along with your resume when you apply. *
- Ability to communicate fluently in English language; both verbal and written.
