.8 FTE Secondary School Teaching Position: English & Social Studies
Artemis Place is looking for a highly skilled BC certificated educator with experience teaching exceptional and diverse youth and with a strong understanding of Inclusive Education. The successful candidate must be a certified BC teacher and have a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach. Being flexible, open, and accommodating as well as collaborative in cross-curricular teaching is required. Artemis Place offers nurturing and integrated programming in a special education independent school setting that integrates self-paced and small group academics, life-skills, counselling and parenting support, including an on-site child-care centre. We support students who have an inclusive education designation and who have not experienced success in traditional school settings. Students include young women, young mothers, students who identify as transgender or non-binary, and gender-questioning students between the ages of 15-19 and often face complex and co-occurring risk factors.

Responsibilities:
· Build positive relationships with students and staff
· Classroom management
· Design, adapt and deliver self-paced curriculum to meet the needs of individual students, including project-based learning in curricular areas of English Language Arts 10-12; Social Studies 10 & 11; & electives.
· Caseload management of 15-18 students in coordination with a Youth & Family Counselor to support a student’s educational goals and social-emotional well-being
· Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to write and implement Individual Education Plans and review on a regular basis
· Regularly assess, communicate, and report on student progress both within the team, with the student and parent/guardian
· Ensure planning, curriculum and programming meet Ministry of Ed requirements
· Contribute to a positive, flexible, supportive learning environment and staff team
· Build student assets to promote well-being and resilience
· Assist with the smooth operation of the program as part of a collaborative and open interdisciplinary team
· Monday-Thursday schedule; 30.5 hours/week
o Mondays: 8:30-4:30
o Tuesday-Thursday: 8:30-4:00
Qualifications
· Education Degree and valid BC Teaching Certificate
· Experience in alternate education, at risk youth, crisis intervention
· Experience teaching English & Social Studies & electives
Salary:
· Range: $40-$45/hour, depending on experience

Contract length: August 31st, 2026 – June 25th, 2027; with the possibility of summer hours in July 2027 and a contract renewal for the 2027-2028 schoolyear
