Weston Construction Alberta is seeking an experienced Track Foreman to lead rail and track construction crews on heavy civil, transit, and railway infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on leadership role for a foreman who understands track construction, can safely direct field operations, and has proven experience delivering quality work in active construction environments.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Direct Fixation (DF) Track systems, embedded track construction, special trackwork, and rail installation. Candidates with experience working on transit, LRT, streetcar, industrial rail, or mainline railway projects are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise track construction crews in the field.
- Coordinate daily activities, manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Install, align, and maintain track systems to project specifications and tolerances.
- Oversee Direct Fixation (DF) Track installation.
- Supervise Iron Horse and embedded track construction activities.
- Lead the installation of special trackwork including turnouts, crossings, and switches.
- Coordinate and perform rail destressing activities.
- Review drawings, specifications, work plans, and schedules.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure compliance with all site safety requirements.
- Monitor production, quality, and project progress.
- Work closely with superintendents, project management, survey crews, and inspectors.
- Identify and resolve field issues while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in rail and track construction, with leadership or foreman experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with Direct Fixation (DF) Track systems.
- Experience installing Iron Horse embedded track or similar embedded rail systems.
- Strong knowledge of special trackwork including turnouts, crossings, and switches.
- Experience with rail destressing procedures and rail installation best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Willingness to travel and work on project sites as required.
Preferred Experience:
- Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects.
- Streetcar or embedded rail systems.
- Transit infrastructure construction.
- Heavy civil construction projects involving rail systems.
- Thermite welding, flash-butt welding, or rail maintenance activities.
Pay: $40.00-$45.00 per hour
