Edge Catering is a leading catering company serving weddings, corporate functions, private events, galas, and special occasions throughout Metro Vancouver.
We are looking for a Catering Supervisor who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and can help lead our front-of-house teams during events. This position combines event supervision, customer service, staff coordination, and hands-on operational support.
The successful candidate will work closely with our Event Managers, Kitchen Team, Drivers, and Service Staff to ensure events are delivered according to client expectations and company standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Front-of-House Leadership
- Supervise front-of-house operations during events.
- Lead service teams and ensure a professional guest experience.
- Conduct pre-event briefings and communicate event expectations to staff.
- Address guest concerns and service issues as they arise.
- Ensure company standards and event timelines are followed.
Team Coordination
- Support servers, bartenders, and event staff throughout the event.
- Assist with training and mentoring new team members.
- Help create a positive and professional work environment.
- Communicate effectively with Event Managers and other departments.
Event Execution
- Oversee the execution of plated dinners, buffets, cocktail receptions, and other event formats.
- Work closely with the kitchen and operations teams to ensure smooth service.
- Monitor event flow and adjust as needed to maintain service quality.
- Assist with setup, service, and teardown when required.
Logistical Oversight
- Ensure event equipment, rentals, and supplies are ready before departure.
- Assist with event preparation and operational readiness.
- Troubleshoot issues on-site and help find practical solutions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of event spaces and work areas.
HQ Coordination
- Assist with event preparation at our headquarters.
- Support administrative tasks related to upcoming and completed events.
- Participate in team meetings and operational planning as required.
Transportation Duties
- Occasionally drive company vehicles to and from event locations.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment, rentals, and event supplies.
- Support event setup and teardown activities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
- Minimum two years of supervisory experience in catering, hospitality, food service, or event operations.
- Experience with weddings, corporate events, and large-scale functions is considered an asset.
Leadership
- Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable making decisions and solving problems during live events.
- Ability to remain professional under pressure.
Flexibility
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
Driving
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
Communication & Organization
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and team-focused.
Certifications
- Serving It Right certification required.
- FoodSafe certification is considered an asset.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Hourly wage: $22.00 per hour plus gratuity.
- Eligible for gratuity distribution when working qualifying events.
