Our client, a Canadian based Industrial Equipment manufacturer in Hamilton, On, is seeking a detail-oriented
Electrical Design Engineer to join their dynamic and innovative organization. The role is responsible for designing and implementing electrical systems for industrial equipment, with a strong focus on PLC/HMI controls and DC systems. The position will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration, safety compliance, and performance excellence. The ideal candidate is inspired by working with cutting edge technology and creating innovative solutions for clients in a fast-paced custom manufacturing environment.
The Role:-
Develop electrical schematics, layouts, and panel designs using CAD platforms such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or SolidWorks Electrical.

Specify electrical components including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, relays, motors, and protective devices.

Design and troubleshoot crane control systems, hoist operations, travel circuits, and integrated safety features.

Maintain and improve DC control systems for industrial applications, with emphasis on reliability and compliance.

Program, commission, and troubleshoot control systems on-site to ensure operational success and customer satisfaction.

Collaborate with mechanical and project teams to integrate electrical systems into new and retrofit designs.

Conduct load studies and ensure compliance with CSA, NEC, IEC, and other applicable standards.

Support prototype development and testing, assisting with issue resolution during build and commissioning phases.

Create documentation including BOMs, technical specifications, and installation manuals.

Contribute to cost-effective, scalable, and maintainable design solutions.

Participate in design reviews and help refine internal processes and engineering practices.

Keep abreast of emerging technologies and propose relevant improvements to systems and tools.
The Ideal Candidate:-
Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline.

5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical design within an industrial or manufacturing setting.

Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent design tools.

Solid understanding of control systems, including PLCs and industrial automation.

Familiarity with Canadian and international electrical codes and safety standards.

Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.

Effective communicator and collaborative team player.

Experience with electrical testing protocols and instrumentation would be an asset.

Ability to work in office at the Hamilton facility - Remote or Hybrid not applicable.
