Duties for this position include:
- Establish and maintain a welcoming hair care environment
- Consult with clients to establish needs, preferences and style requirements
- Assist client by providing instruction on hair care best practices
- Provide shampoo and deep conditioning services
- Cut and shape client hair using a variety of tools and cutting/styling techniques
- Provide gentlemen with moustache/beard trimming and professional shaving services
- Provide clients with perms, hair straightening, colouring, highlighting and colour correction services
- Style hair using appropriate tools and techniques
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current hair styles and styling practices
- Conduct wig and/or hair piece services
- Clean workstations, hair washing sinks, the hair salon and other equipment at daily and as necessary during working hours
- Inspect, clean and repair/replace worn or broken tools
- Disinfect all tools using appropriate solutions/equipment
- Provide advice regarding hair care and style maintenance
- Establish lasting styling relationships with clients
- Sell hair care products suitable for client needs
- Set up and maintain hair care product displays
- Perform other duties as necessary
Requirements:
- High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
- Post-Secondary training in Hair Styling
- Strong customer service and problem solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
- Professional appearance and manners
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Reliable transportation is essential
- Previous experience in a spa/resort environment would be beneficial, but is not required
