We are searching for Mine Supervisors to join us at multiple project sites throughout Ontario. At Shafts and Tunnels, the Mine Supervisor plays a key leadership role in the safe and efficient execution of underground mining and construction projects throughout Ontario. This position is responsible for supervising crews on active mine sites, coordinating daily work activities, and ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project, client, and regulatory requirements.
This opportunity will support multiple projects and may include both day and night shift rotations. The successful candidate will bring practical underground mining experience, strong field leadership, and a safety-focused approach to crew supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily work activities for underground mine site crews on day and night shift rotations.
- Plan, assign, and monitor tasks based on project priorities, crew competencies, equipment availability, and safety considerations.
- Provide hands-on field leadership for underground construction, mining support, ground support, installation, material handling, and maintenance-related work.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with project specifications, safe work procedures, permits, and client/site requirements.
- Lead and actively promote compliance with company HSSE policies, site-specific safety procedures, and Ontario regulatory requirements.
- Conduct and document toolbox talks, safety meetings, hazard assessments, workplace inspections, and required project documentation.
- Monitor crew productivity, workmanship, equipment usage, and daily progress reporting.
- Identify site hazards, support incident reporting and investigations, and assist in implementing corrective actions as required.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, HSSE, engineering, client representatives, and other trades to support project execution.
- Support onboarding, coaching, and competency development for crew members.
- Maintain clear communication across shifts and ensure accurate handover of priorities, hazards, equipment status, and work progress.
- Other duties as required to meet project and/or business needs.
Required Experience, Training & Certifications
- 5-10 years of mining experience, including underground mine site exposure.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in underground mining, construction, or a related industrial environment.
- Underground Common Core for Soft Rock and Hard Rock environments.
- Valid WHMIS and Working at Heights certifications.
- Strong understanding of underground hazards, ground control, safe work planning, and crew supervision.
- Ability to work day and night shift rotations at various project sites throughout Ontario.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, planning, and leadership skills.
Pay: $80.00-$100.00 per hour
