Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support within our busy ophthalmology practice. This position involves assisting ophthalmologists in various clinical tasks, ensuring a smooth workflow, and enhancing the overall patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist in patient examinations by preparing them for the doctor, including obtaining medical histories and performing preliminary tests.
- Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) systems to document patient information accurately
- Operate diagnostic testing machines such as OCTs, Visual Fields, HRTs, and autorefractions
- Maintain and organize medical equipment and supplies to ensure an efficient working environment.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance patient flow and improve overall clinic efficiency.
- Stay updated on medical terminology, procedures, and best practices related to ophthalmology.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems; experience with Oscar is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to ophthalmology is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and customer service.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma from Accredited Canadian Post-Secondary School
