We are currently seeking a skilled Tool Maker to join our Injection Molding Team. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining, and improving molds, tooling, fixtures, fabricating jigs and custom end of arm tooling and related equipment that support our production operations. The ideal candidate brings strong machining experience, attention to detail, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair, maintain, and modify injection molds, tooling components, fixtures, jigs, and gauges
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on molds and tooling
- Operate a range of equipment including:
- Manual mill, Manual lathes, grinders, drills, (as an asset EDM wire machines & CNC mill, but not necessary)
- Precision measuring tools and hand tools
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD/CAM files
- Inspect tooling to ensure accuracy, quality, and performance
- Troubleshoot mold issues with production team to minimize downtime and improve efficiency
- Inspect new or modified tooling
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams on improving tools and new mold builds
- Provide recommendations for tool performance and reliability
- Maintain accurate records and update documentation as required
- Support and mentor team members or apprentices as needed
- Ensure proper cleaning, testing, and handling procedures are followed
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Experience with mold making and repairs
- Strong machining experience
- Ability to work well as a team member
- Solid understanding of injection mold construction, repair, and maintenance
- Experience with manual machine equipment (lathe, milling machine, grinder) is an asset
- Strong knowledge of precision measurement tools and techniques
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
- Tool & Die Maker certification or Red Seal is an asset, but not required
