Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Underwriter to join our team within the financial services industry. The ideal candidate will evaluate risk factors, analyze data, and make informed decisions to approve or decline lease applications. The Underwriter plays a critical role in maintaining the company's financial stability while supporting client needs through careful assessment and negotiation.
Duties
- Review and assess credit applications and financial proposals by analyzing relevant data and documentation.
- Conduct thorough risk analysis to determine the likelihood of claims or defaults, utilizing statistical models and industry standards.
- Collect and interpret data related to applicants’ financial history, credit reports, and other pertinent information.
- Make informed underwriting decisions based on established guidelines, risk appetite, and market conditions.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with clients or agents to reach mutually beneficial agreements while managing risk exposure.
- Collaborate with sales teams, brokers, or clients to clarify details and provide guidance throughout the underwriting process.
- Maintain accurate records of all decisions, correspondence, and supporting documentation for compliance purposes.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, market trends, and new underwriting techniques to continuously improve processes.
Skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and financial information.
- Excellent negotiation skills to effectively communicate terms and manage client relationships.
- Solid understanding of math principles relevant to underwriting calculations and assessments.
- Background in accounting or finance is required for evaluating financial statements accurately.
- Attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills to ensure accuracy in decision-making.

- Candidates must have a degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Satisfactory police record check is required as a condition of employment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
