Position Title: General Superintendent
We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent to support our client at an Arctic fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) site on a 2-weeks-on / 2-weeks-off rotation. In this role, you will lead and coordinate all on-site construction and mechanical activities, including supervising field teams and subcontractors, managing project controls and costs, coordinating resources and equipment, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules, quality standards, and budget requirements. This is a short-term contract with a build of about $10 million. Pay is $80/hr + overtime paid after 8 hours per day on 12-hour shifts; flights, camp accommodations, meals, and PPE are provided. Successful candidates should have 5-10+ years experience in structural/civil construction of similar structures (batch plant, water treatment plant, crusher plant, conveyors, etc.) built in remote sites, relevant mine safety certifications, and be able to pass a medical assessment, criminal background check, drug and alcohol screening, and provide professional references. Ideally, candidates will also have concrete experience along with mechanical and structural construction background.

Main Accountabilities:
- Oversees and coordinates all activities with subcontractors and related Client personnel, ensuring that work is completed as per the schedule and in accordance with all parties
- Ensures and promotes proactive project safety management and security practices in keeping with the Client HSE program and applicable legislation. Cooperates fully with the Client Safety Department and promotes ongoing training and development
- Conducts daily meetings with direct reports to plan daily, weekly, and monthly production requirements to meet schedule requirements
- Liaises with the client as directed by the Construction Manager/Project Manager
- Supervises and coordinates all activities of the Superintendents to ensure achievement of all project objectives and targets related to cost, schedule, quality, and safety
- Coordinates availability and information on all work fronts with the Client and the Owner
- Relays information on work fronts to the Superintendents
- Communicates constructability and access issues on work fronts to the Superintendents
- Monitors and tracks all costs, ensures cost codes are maintained, and implements new cost codes as required
- Interacts directly with the Construction Manager and/or Project Manager on all cost code-related issues and concerns
- Represents the Client and attends all contract, production, and progress meetings with the Client and the Owner as required
- Relays all safety-related issues and concerns identified by the Client and the Owner to the Superintendents
- Participates in the development and layout of the three-week look-ahead schedule based on information provided and communicates the information to the Superintendents
- Gathers work front issues from the Superintendents and represents the Client with the Client and the Owner, acting as the focal point for problem resolution and communicating all information back to the various department leads
- Organizes all equipment and storage requirements based on information obtained from the Superintendents, including cranes, manlifts, workstations, generators, power plants, lighting, storage facilities, and warehousing
- Acts as a support and resource to department leads in workplace-related issues, including corrective action, safety, and training
- Ensures all supporting documentation is provided for invoicing in accordance with contract requirements
- Manages Project Control systems and reports to the Project Manager and Owner
- Interprets schedules and identifies changes required for tracking purposes
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of the different types of construction contracts frequently utilized by the Client and possesses an in-depth understanding of the scope of work specific to mechanical duties
- Maintains complete knowledge of all Prime Contract and Subcontract documents, drawings, specifications, and relevant key milestones
- Accountable for the management of all tools and equipment
- Ensures that appropriate construction equipment is used in relation to the work being performed
- Manages Project Control systems and reports to the Project Manager and Owner
- Interprets schedules and identifies changes required for tracking purposes
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of the different types of construction contracts frequently utilized by the Client and possesses an in-depth understanding of the scope of work specific to mechanical duties
- Maintains complete knowledge of all Prime Contract and Subcontract documents, drawings, specifications, and relevant key milestones
- Accountable for the management of all tools and equipment
- Ensures that appropriate construction equipment is used for the various scopes of work and that it is available and delivered to site in accordance with schedule requirements
- Manages costs through proactive planning and utilizes Client resources as the first source where practical
- Establishes effective communication with consultants, subcontractors, and clients as required
- Maintains a working knowledge and understanding of the project estimate, including self-performed work breakdowns, field purchasing requirements, subcontract breakdowns, and seasonal controls
- Ensures that cost-coded timesheets, quantity reports, purchase orders, delivery slips, QA/QC documentation, daily reports, and all required administrative tracking and management documents are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner
- Reviews all plans, specifications, and project documentation related to mechanical activities to identify discrepancies and assess constructability. Reports all findings promptly to the General Superintendent
- Manages and tracks potential contract changes
- Tracks and reports labour, material, and subcontractor time-and-material field activities.
- Issues site instructions to subcontractors and Client self-perform work crews. Any site instructions with schedule or cost implications must be approved by the Project Manager and the Client
- Complies with the standards and procedures outlined in the Client HSE Manual, Client Quality Manual, and applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
- Maintains a daily journal documenting project activities and key issues

Main Qualifications:
- Journeyperson or Red Seal trade certificate or Equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years trade experience or relevant post-secondary education
- A minimum 5 years relevant site leadership experience (on site experience mandatory) This can be concurrent with 5 years relevant experience noted above
- Demonstrated competency in a Superintendent role
- Current Leadership for Safety Excellence and Mine Supervisor certification (as required)
- Up to date safety training relevant to the requirements of the Project
- A valid Class 5 driver's license is mandatory
- The General Superintendent must demonstrate Client's Core Values – Respect, Integrity, Continuous Improvement & Client Focus Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential
- Basic working knowledge of - MS Outlook, Excel, Word & Project
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Effective time management skills

- A basic understanding and use of scheduling skills
