Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Operations Manager specializing in Trucking and Delivery to lead our logistics and transportation functions. In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end management of trucking operations, ensuring efficient delivery processes, optimal resource utilization, and seamless coordination across supply chain activities. Duties
- Oversee daily trucking and delivery operations, ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment across multiple distribution centers.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL), freight carriers, and procurement teams to optimize transportation costs and service levels.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and AS400 platforms to monitor shipments, inventory levels, and supply chain data for informed decision-making.
- Supervise staff involved in dispatching, route planning, materials management, and warehouse distribution activities.
- Implement process improvements to streamline freight handling, demand planning, and materials procurement processes.
- Conduct budgeting activities related to transportation costs, fleet maintenance, and supply chain expenses while identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations by enforcing forklift operation standards and conducting regular safety audits.
- Coordinate with purchasing teams to manage procurement of transportation equipment and materials needed for efficient operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, efficiency gains, and waste reduction within trucking and delivery workflows.
Experience
- Proven supervisory experience managing trucking or delivery operations within a logistics or supply chain environment.
- Extensive knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems (Enterprise Resource Planning), and AS400 platforms.
- Strong understanding of freight management, 3PL partnerships, demand planning, and materials management strategies.
- Hands-on experience with procurement processes, purchasing procedures, and budget management related to transportation functions.
- Familiarity with forklift operation standards and safety protocols; certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements using continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
