ABOUT THE BUSY SCHOOL
The BUSY School Calgary is a newly approved Charter School opening in August 2026, created to re-engage young people in Grades 10 to 12 who have stepped away from traditional education. We combine a high school diploma pathway with real-world vocational training, giving students the skills, confidence, and connections they need to launch into meaningful careers. We are mission-driven, relationship-first, and genuinely different.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are recruiting up to five Teachers to join our founding team at The BUSY School Calgary. While our full curriculum is still being shaped, we are looking for educators who can teach across one of the following subject combinations:
- English and Social Studies
- Mathematics and Science
- Physical Education and CALM
You will work with students who may have had difficult experiences with mainstream schooling, and your role is to change that story. You will plan with purpose, teach with energy, and assess with care, all within the Alberta Curriculum framework. Please indicate your preferred subject area combination in your application.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated programs aligned to the Alberta Curriculum
- Build genuine relationships with students, families, and the broader school community
- Use Educational Technologies and the school Learning Management System creatively
- Monitor student progress and contribute to Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and Career Pathway Plans (CPPs)
- Participate in professional development, peer observation, and collaborative planning
- Uphold a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- A bachelor's degree in education or equivalent qualification for secondary teaching
- Endorsed or experienced in one of the following subject combinations: English and Social Studies; Mathematics and Science; or Physical Education and CALM
- Experience with, or a genuine passion for, working with disengaged youth
- Strong relationship-building skills and a flexible, student-centred teaching style
- Confidence using digital tools and technology to enhance learning
- High standards of professionalism, communication, and integrity

Pay: $65,000.00-$82,858.00 per year
