Parent Support / CLBC Support Worker
Job Summary
The Kitimat Community Development Centre (KCDC) is seeking a compassionate and motivated Parent Support / CLBC Support Worker to join our team. This position supports both families of children and youth with support needs and adults with developmental disabilities through two distinct program areas: Parent Support Services and Community Living BC (CLBC).
The successful candidate will provide individualized support, promote independence and community inclusion, and work collaboratively with families, community partners, and the KCDC team.
Key Responsibilities
Parent Support Services
- Provide individualized support to parents based on specific-identified needs.
- Promote positive parenting and healthy parent-child relationships.
- Assist families in accessing community resources and activities that promote community integration for their child/youth/family.
- Facilitate parent education and support sessions as requested or as needed.
- Participate in service planning and team meetings.
- Develop parent support materials for parents/youth accessing child and youth care services.
- Maintain accurate documentation and program records.
Community Living BC (CLBC)
- Support adults with developmental disabilities to live independently or with support by providing life skills assistance in all areas of daily living.
- Follow individual service plans and support goals.
- Assist clients in accessing community resources and services.
- Participate as a team member in family centered model of service; participate in team meetings and case conferences.
- Complete program documentation and incident reporting as required.
Qualifications
- Social Service Worker Diploma, Human Services, or related discipline or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience supporting children, youth, adults, and families in a community setting preferred.
- Knowledge of developmental disabilities, parenting supports, and community resources.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Sensitivity to diverse cultures and family needs.
Requirements
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
- Criminal Record Check.
- Basic First Aid and CPR
