Novel Health is a new and innovative family practice clinic located in the community of Riverside South, Ottawa, with a second location in Manotick. We serve a diverse population in the Ottawa south region and leverage technology and electronic records to provide timely and comprehensive care. We are looking for a dynamic and passionate Full-Time Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to join our growing team.
Job Summary
The MOA will work alongside a team of Medical Office Assistants, Nurses (RPN, RN), family physicians and specialists to provide administrative and clinical support in a primary care environment. MOA should be willing to work at both our Riverside South and Manotick locations. Availability to work evenings (12-8pm) 2x per week is a must.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of one year experience working in the medical office settings
- Availability to work evenings (12-8pm) 2x per week
- Ability to work between Riverside south and Manotick clinics
- Self directed and independent, able to work with minimal oversight
- Computer and EMR Literacy
- Empathic and passionate about supporting and providing care to patients
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Knowledge of medical billing (MOH, third party, out of province)
- Knowledge of medical office standards and workflows
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multi-task
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Education in medical administration is an asset
- Knowledge of PS suites, Ocean and Pomelo
- Knowledge in social media, health newsletters and communication are an asset
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receiving incoming calls, answering routine inquiries and triaging ailments for urgency
- Responding to patient inquiries via phone call or online portal system
- Receiving & organizing medical documents to appropriate charts
- Managing clinic intake and regularly interacting with patients
- Managing appointment bookings and scheduling changes
- Rooming patients and taking vitals
- Disinfecting exam rooms and clinic common areas
- Invoicing and billing reconciliation
- Assisting in development of office workflow and work standards
- Participating in regularly scheduled team meetings and team building activities
- Collaborating with colleagues and physicians to ensure continuity of care for patients
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
