'The Ray of Hope Soup Kitchen has served over 1,000,000 meals to the marginalized and disenfranchised of greater Moncton since 1984. We are a registered not-for-profit charity operating commercial kitchen facilities from the basement of a church and serve from 80 to 300 lunch meals per day, Monday to Friday. Our mission is to provide nutritious meals and support to those in need, fostering community and compassion.
Summary
'We are seeking a dedicated Soup Kitchen Dining Room Manager to manage clients and volunteers in the basement of St. Augustine's church. This role is vital in ensuring smooth meal service, , and fostering a welcoming environment for our clients and volunteers. Join us in making a meaningful difference in our community.'
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily meal service operations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of meals.
- Responsible for setting up dining room and overseeing its smooth operation, and daily cleaning.
- Peacefully resolve any unruly client behavior issues that may occur and maintain a safe environment
- Dining Room volunteer onboarding and direction, with the support of the Head Cook
- Delegate responsibilities to volunteers as required
- Ensure tables are cleaned, floors are mopped, and bathrooms are kept clean daily
- Take garbage out daily
- Support Head cook with record keeping using excel spreadsheet templates, as required
- Handle daily donations and maintain record of all donations that come through the kitchen
- Picking up food supplies every Wednesday and as required during the week. (must provide own transportation or arrange for pick up)
- Ensure weekly laundry is taken to the laundromat on Monday and picked up on Wednesday.
- Unload food deliveries on daily basis.
- In case of equipment or facility breakdowns, contact maintenance support, as required, in a timely fashion.
- Assist in other areas of the Kitchen as required.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience interacting with the homeless, and those with addiction and mental or social challenges
- Must be familiar with volunteer work
- Some heavy lifting associated with food deliveries
- Basic computer ability – Excel and MS Word
