Role Description
Brainiacs is looking for an educator / tutor for board-games for multiple after-school programs at Elementary Schools. The successful candidate will plan the educational sessions, set up the games/puzzles and teach kids to improve their skills, decision-making, choices and failure management.
Our after-school programs are typically for 2 hours during weekday afternoons and take place at Elementary Schools in the Greater Vancouver area, across multiple school boards. Brainiacs has multiple programs running at multiple schools throughout the week.
Key Responsibilities
- Always be present from the beginning of each session, prior to the arrival of the children to the end, dismissal of children to their guardians.
- Plan and lead sessions in a fun and interactive manner for school-aged children.
- Support attendees with their activity set up, understanding and clear up.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Strategize and build your sessions to maximize student learning.
- Encourage participation at different levels and be proactive with solutions.
- Manage attendance, set up and take down for each session.
- Report attendance and session update to Program Coordinator.
- Ensure safe dismissal for each child at the end of the program.
- Other related tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Ability to travel to Elementary Schools in the greater Vancouver area is mandatory
- Interest in teaching/educating young kids between Grades K-7
- Able to organize, plan and execute educational programs
- Passionate and knowledgeable about STEM and board games
- Prior experience with teaching, tutoring, child-care or after-school programs is preferred
