Role Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with SolidWorks, particularly in designing sheet metal components. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our engineering and production teams to create 3D models, approval drawings, and detailed shop drawings using SolidWorks. You will also be responsible for Generating CNC programs for laser cutting and punching machines and preparing cost estimates to ensure accurate and competitive pricing while maintaining our high standards of quality and service. Additionally, you will manage material and hardware procurement.
This role requires a self-disciplined and self-motivating individual who can work independently while meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design sheet metal parts and assemblies using SolidWorks, creating detailed approval and shop drawings while focusing on manufacturability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Generate DXF files from STEP files received from customers, ensuring compatibility with our fabrication processes for efficient manufacturing.
- Generate CNC programs for laser cutting and punching machines.
- Work closely with production managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure designs are optimized for fabrication, assembly and cost efficiency.
- Review and analyze drawings, project specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and fabrication processes using our ERP system.
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate prices, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Purchase materials, including sheet metal, hardware, and other components necessary for each order.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer in a sheet metal fabrication environment with proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and environments, including cutting, bending, rolling, welding, machining, prototyping, and assembly.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications related to sheet metal design and fabrication.
- Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- Previous experience in a sheet metal fabricating.

Pay: $40,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
