Position Overview
The Hub Yard Supervisor is responsible for the daytime operations, coordination, and leadership of the Hub Yard located at 473 St. George Street. Operating within the YMCA Community Outreach Department, this role provides direct supervision and support to YRAD staff working within the yard while helping ensure the space remains safe, inclusive, responsive, and aligned with YMCA values and service approaches.
The Hub Yard Supervisor serves as the primary YMCA contact for day-to-day yard operations and collaborates closely with community partners connected to the Hub Yard project. This role helps balance partner relationships, operational expectations, member needs, and YMCA mandates while supporting consistent communication and coordinated service delivery.
Working within a trauma-informed and harm reduction-focused environment, the Hub Yard Supervisor supports staff, responds to emergent concerns, and contributes to low-barrier programming and member engagement within the yard
Duties
- Provide daytime leadership, supervision, and operational oversight within the Hub Yard.
- Support and supervise YRAD staff working within the yard, including coaching, direction, and real-time problem-solving.
- Maintain a strong presence within the Hub Yard to support safe, respectful, and inclusive daily operations
- Provide leadership during crises, overdoses, conflicts, and high-risk situations using trauma-informed and harm reduction-focused approaches.
- Act as the primary YMCA contact for Hub Yard expectations, procedures, and rule interpretation.
- Collaborate with Hub Yard partners to support coordinated operations, communication, and alignment with YMCA mandates.
- Support the development and implementation of low-barrier programming and engagement opportunities within the yard.
- Assist with scheduling coordination, documentation oversight, communication, and operational follow-up as required.
- Monitor yard operations and identify emerging concerns, trends, or service gaps.
- Uphold YMCA values and program standards through consistent, respectful, and member-centered leadership.
- Develop and maintain Hub Yard guidelines for members accessing the space
Skills & Qualifications
- Education or training in social work, human services, mental health, addictions, or a related field (or equivalent lived/professional experience)
- Experience supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, or substance use, ideally in an outreach or crisis response setting
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or shift coordination experience is a strong asset
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (or ability to travel as required for overnight shifts)
- CPR, First Aid, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certifications (or willingness to obtain)
- ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) certifications considered strong assets
- Strong judgment and ability to make decisions independently in fast-paced or high-pressure situations
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and crisis intervention approaches

Pay: $24.00-$25.00 per hour
