- Job Summary
- The Mechanical Engineering Technologist is responsible for supporting the design, development, testing, installation, and maintenance of mechanical and electromechanical systems and equipment. The role includes preparing technical drawings for Ever Green Environmental Corporation’s flagship project (UCycle) for future customers, assisting with fabrication projects, troubleshooting mechanical issues on TOMRA automated counting machines and Machinex baler systems, maintaining small machinery such as bag compaction machines, granulators, and densifiers, supporting existing UCycle projects across all five depots, and ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and revise mechanical drawings, layouts, and technical documentation using CAD software.
- Assist in the preparation of basic CAD drawings, modification layouts, and fabrication plans for prototypes and projects. Support the development and implementation of equipment setups and fabrication-related modifications rather than advanced mechanical system design.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment and systems.
- Coordinate with fabrication contractors, suppliers, and maintenance teams.
- Support project planning, scheduling, and cost estimation activities.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements for efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable safety regulations, CSA standards, and company policies.
- Interpret, mark up, and provide feedback on mechanical drawings and electrical schematics to document assembly issues or design improvements.
- Support prototype fabrication, equipment testing, commissioning, and deployment at customer sites.
- Assemble small systems and troubleshoot custom-designed electromechanical systems on TOMRA machines.
- Troubleshoot and maintain Machinex baler systems and related processing equipment.
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on small machinery including bag compaction machines, granulators, and densifiers.
- Prepare project deliverables including detailed drawings, electrical schematics, layouts, equipment sizing, and related technical documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians in the execution of technical tasks and projects.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
- Maintain accurate project records, reports, and technical files.
- Provide technical support to operations and maintenance staff.
Qualifications
- College diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Experience with mechanical CAD software such as Autodesk Suite or SolidWorks.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication processes, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of safety standards, CSA requirements, and industrial regulations is considered an asset.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical and electromechanical issues effectively.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with industrial machinery, fabrication systems, recycling equipment, or manufacturing environments is considered an asset.

Pay: $56,511.96-$68,640.00 per year
