The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, forecast and purchasing raw materials, components, tooling, and services required to support extrusion manufacturing operations. This role ensures uninterrupted production through strategic supplier management, cost control, inventory optimization, and strong cross-functional coordination with production, engineering, quality, and logistics teams.
Responsibilities:
- Source and procure raw materials and services such as aluminum billets, resins, additives, packaging materials, dies, tooling, machining and maintenance supplies
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives to reduce costs and improve supplier performance.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, delivery schedules, payment terms, and service agreements with vendors.
- Maintain supplier agreements and ensure compliance with company purchasing policies.
- Ensures that all assigned purchasing orders are processed on time to ensure customer delivery.
- Provides expediting information to production and maintains information in the system.
- Maintains current information regarding receiving and expediting on Purchase order.
- Responsible for returns to vendors and ensure that we receive credits or replacements.
- Purchases all service to office and production floor supplies as needed.
- Resolves vendor acknowledgements and invoices against Purchase order price discrepancies.
- Reviews and recommends stocking levels (min/max) of inventory.
- Perform supplier evaluations on a yearly basis to ensure supplier remains competent to meet company’s objectives
- Analyze purchasing trends, market conditions, and commodity pricing.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternate sourcing, process improvements, and value engineering.
- Prepare and maintain procurement reports, KPIs, and spend analyses.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, maintenance, and production departments.
- Participate in new product launches and supplier selection activities.
- Assist with continuous improvement projects and ERP system enhancements.

- Adhere to standards that are based on the ISO 9001 Quality System and internal procedures.
Health & Safety:
- Participate in the Company’s Health & Safety, Housekeeping and Environmental Programs.

Requirements:
- 5–10+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in manufacturing.
- Experience in extrusion, metals, plastics, automotive, or industrial manufacturing preferred.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Plex, or similar).
- Strong understanding of inventory management and supply chain principles.
- Experience purchasing aluminum, resins, industrial chemicals, tooling, or engineered components
- Knowledge of ISO quality standards and manufacturing processes.
- APICS, CPM, or CPSM certification is considered an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with shifting priorities.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
