As part of strengthening our team and expanding our Retail practice, we are seeking a Retail Business Analyst Consultant to contribute to a variety of client engagements in the Montréal area.
The selected candidate will work with clients facing challenges related to commerce, omnichannel strategies, customer journeys, retail operations, and associated digital solutions. They must be able to adapt to different engagement contexts while maintaining a consulting, functional, and operational mindset.
Mission
The consultant will support clients in the analysis, definition, and implementation of business requirements related to the retail sector.
They will act as a liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, project teams, and delivery partners to translate business challenges into clear, structured, and actionable requirements.
This position is intended for an experienced, autonomous professional, or a recently senior-level candidate, with relevant project experience and a strong interest in retail-related topics.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the nature of the engagement, the consultant may be responsible for:
Gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements from business stakeholders;
Facilitating scoping, design, and prioritization workshops;
Understanding existing retail processes and contributing to their improvement;
Translating business needs into functional requirements, user stories, process flows, and other analysis deliverables;
Collaborating with IT, product, design, integration, data, and architecture teams, depending on the client environment;
Contributing to the definition of target customer journeys, business rules, and solutions tailored to client needs and challenges;
Participating in testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), functional validation, and change management activities;
Ensuring clear and effective communication between business and technical teams;
Contributing, as opportunities arise, to pre-sales activities, proposal development, responses to RFPs (Requests for Proposals), and the continued growth of the retail practice.

Desired Profile
Ideally, you possess:
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a relevant project-based role;
Experience in business analysis, functional consulting, business advisory, or a similar role;
Exposure to retail, commerce, distribution, e-commerce, or digital transformation environments;
A solid understanding of the interactions between business needs, processes, IT solutions, and project constraints;
The ability to engage with business stakeholders while understanding technical considerations;
A consulting mindset, with the ability to challenge assumptions, provide structure, and simplify complex concepts;
The autonomy required to work independently in a client-facing consulting environment;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Fluency in both French and English;
Availability to work in Montréal, either downtown or at client sites, depending on engagement requirements.

Participation in pre-sales activities or responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs);
Certifications in Business Analysis, Agile methodologies, Product Ownership, or Project Management;
Knowledge of Agile practices and methodologies;
Experience working in complex environments involving multiple stakeholders.

CGI provides a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this position. The calculation of this range is based on various factors, including skill level, geographic market, experience, education, and relevant professional licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions are made based on the specifics of each individual case. A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this position is between CAD $80,000 and CAD $115,000.
