Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Maker to join our vibrant restaurant team. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation and a strong understanding of food safety standards. The Sushi Maker will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi and other Japanese dishes, ensuring an authentic dining experience for our guests.
Duties
- Prepare and assemble sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area
- Handle food with care, adhering to proper food handling and safety procedures
- Assist in meal preparation for various menu items, supporting overall kitchen operations
- Ensure all food served meets quality standards and is presented attractively
- Follow health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment
- Serve customers directly when needed, providing excellent food service and hospitality
- Manage inventory levels of ingredients specific to sushi preparation and notify management of supply needs
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, especially in sushi making or Japanese cuisine
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling techniques
- Ability to cook and prepare meals efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Excellent serving skills with a focus on customer satisfaction
- Experience working in restaurants or the food industry, with a background in kitchen operations preferred
- Familiarity with meal preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation standards for sushi and related dishes
- Good organizational skills to manage ingredients and maintain cleanliness at the workstation
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
