Network and Systems Administrator
Operation Support Centre (234 Tutor Lane, Gimli, MB)
The Network & Systems Administrator is responsible for implementation and maintenance of the school division network, server and systems, and works under the supervision of the IT Consultant.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Design, install, configure, maintain, and administer Divisional enterprise network and Divisional WiFi network
-
Administer and support managed network switches, routers and wireless access points
-
Administer divisional firewall appliance, content filter and VPN
-
Identify, resolve and prevent network security issues
-
Assist with implementing security best practices and addressing vulnerabilities
-
Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers
-
Utilize server virtualization technologies to maximize efficiencies in the data center
-
Install new software releases, system upgrades and patches on servers
-
Design and carryout backup and recovery strategies of all servers
-
Maintain and support core directory and identity services (e.g., Active Directory, Microsoft 365)
-
Create and maintain user account information including rights, security and systems groups
-
Maintain and support division website and staff portal
-
Maintain and support Microsoft Entra and Microsoft 365 services
-
Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair diverse system and application software supporting Divisional technology
-
Be on call during off-hours to respond to network and server outages
-
Build Divisional standardized server and workstation system images
-
Remotely deploy software applications to workstations
-
Ensure server and workstation software is patched and up to date
-
Administer school paging/intercom systems, video surveillance systems and VOIP telephone systems
-
Administer and support Student Information Systems, Learning Management Systems and other instructional technologies
-
Maintain accurate documentation of network and system configurations
-
Research and become familiar with emerging technologies.

Work collaboratively with the IT Support Technician to support end user devices and services

Provide second level technical support for escalated issues
-
Participate in cross training to support help desk, systems and infrastructure functions

Assist the IT Consultant with implementation of new systems, services, and projects

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
-
Post‑secondary education in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
-
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in systems administration, network administration, or a similar role
- Experience supporting networks and servers in a corporate or educational environment
- Experience diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues
- Familiarity with virtualization, enterprise networking, and modern identity platforms

Must have and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba driver's licence and access to a vehicle
Hours of Work: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience
