This position is for our entirely outdoor learning program which takes place in Kanaka Regional Park, Maple Ridge Tuesdays and Thursdays (position starts at two shifts/week with opportunities to increase shifts). The position starts September 1st with potential to start the last week of August. The shifts are 9:00-1:00.
You are:
Able to acquire a criminal record check (charges incurred will be covered by employer) and child care first aid certificate
Able to get yourself to various outdoor program locations (vehicle)
Enthusiastic to work outdoors year-round and dress for inclement weather
Confident interacting with children and families
Comfortable with group management in open settings
Inclusive and kind - our program celebrates all individuals and creates a safe space for families
Able to manage stress and anxiety when working with groups of children outdoors
Able to encourage/supervise risky play
Adaptable and flexible when it comes to learning and implementing the Kollektive philosophy
Able to take initiative in order to extend/follow children’s interests
Curious and willing to play!
Able to lift 30 lbs
You might:
Have experience working outdoors
Be an Early Childhood Educator/Educator
Have experience implementing children’s programs
Be comfortable with technology/photography
Have random other sweet skills to share!
Responsibilities:
Oversee and implement a rad, collaborative outdoor program for children between the ages of 2.5-7 years (year round)
Work within a team of 1-2 co-teachers
Engage with families to create a warm, positive and safe environment
Take the Kollektive training/orientation in order to guide children in a Rights based and trauma informed way and implement child inspired/teacher lead experiences
Record and visually document experiences for children and families
Utilize app for sign in/out and sourcing child information
Utilize the program Whatsapp for staff communication and programming touch base
Arrive promptly at designated start times and notify the owner and team of all confirmed/expected absences
Maintain inclusive and respectful communication with staff, children and families
