About Pirates of Coffee
Pirates of Coffee is a specialty coffee brand born in Canada, known for pushing
boundaries in flavour, design, and culture. Our cafés combine high-quality coffee,
thoughtful hospitality, and unique coffee experiences.
We’re looking for a Café Manager to lead day-to-day café operations and uphold
our standards as the business grows at our roastery cafe. This role is hands-on, and
requires both leadership and active participation on the floor.
What You’ll Do
- Lead daily café operations and ensure smooth service
- Own café performance including sales, labour, and cost of goods (COGS)
- Monitor daily/weekly KPIs and take action to improve performance
- Maintain and continuously improve coffee quality, dialing in espresso and overseeing brew standards
- Manage schedules, staffing, and floor coverage (including bar shifts)
- Hire, train and develop team on coffee knowledge and preparation
- Build a strong team culture aligned with company values and standards
- Maintain service standards, quality control, and guest experience
- Handle inventory, ordering, and basic cost controls
- Oversee retail presentation and merchandising of coffee and products
- Ensure equipment is serviced and cleaned regularly, and maintain records
- Cup, evaluate, and support the launch of new coffees and coffee beverages
- Conceptualize, plan, market, and execute in-café events and experiences to drive community engagement and brand growth
- Act as a point of leadership during busy periods and operational issues
- Assist wholesale customers both remotely and at their premises
- Participate in events at the roastery and at our partners locations as required
- Participate in international coffee events such as World of Coffee and others
You Are
- An experienced café leader comfortable balancing leadership and floor work
- Experienced preparing specialty coffee drinks including espresso-based and hand brew/pourover
- Organized, reliable, and calm under pressure
- Confident leading teams and setting standards
- Comfortable with POS systems, scheduling tools, and performance reporting
- Passionate about coffee, hospitality, and specialty coffee culture
- Available to work weekends and after-hours, with flexibility to adjust your schedule as needed.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Experience:
- specialty coffee: 1 year (required)
- cafe or hospitality management: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Food Handler Certification (preferred)
- Specialty Coffee Certification (preferred)
