Job Overview
We are seeking an engaging and reliable bilingual English–French Micro/Coding Tutor to provide one-on-one, in-person tutoring to elementary-aged student(s).
We are looking for a tutor who can build on student's interest through fun, structured, project-based learning while developing coding, problem-solving and computational-thinking skills.
Duties:
Provide one-on-one in-person tutoring sessions to students Assess students' needs and develop personalized lesson plans.
Travel to and tutor in student's home (pre-screened for safety) or tutor virtually Monitor student progress and submit session reports for each student
What We're Looking For
- Strong spoken English and French
- Experience with Micro, Microsoft MakeCode, or comparable coding/robotics platforms
- Understanding of beginner coding concepts
- Ability to explain technical concepts in simple, age-appropriate language
- Experience and confidence working with elementary-aged children
- Patient, encouraging, reliable and professional
- Available for in-person tutoring in the Ottawa/Orléans area
- Available Wednesday and/or Thursday afternoons/evenings
- Access to reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and able to travel in and around Orleans, Rockland, and Cumberland.
- Open to completing a criminal background check (Background checks from other agencies are accepted)
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
Experience with Scratch, Python, Arduino, robotics, LEGO coding, STEM camps or coding clubs is an asset.
Current students or graduates in Computer Science, Engineering, Education, STEM or related fields are encouraged to apply. A completed university degree is not required.

Please note that this is a part-time independent contractor position with flexible hours. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
Screening & Onboarding
Shortlisted candidates will participate in an interview that includes a 10-minute mock tutoring demonstration. Successful candidates will also be required to provide work/professional references and complete a Police Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector.
