Overview
We are a small but specialized concrete cutting and excavation contractor looking to grow. Specifically, we are looking to start a waterproofing division in the coming 2026 season.
Seeking someone experienced in hot applied waterproofing who is interested in joining our small team. The ideal candidate will have more than 3 seasons of experience working for a reputable *commercial* installer. Not necessarily someone who has run their own crew and has 20+ years experience but someone who understands waterproofing, can work on a team and has a clean driving record. This is a new area of work for us. As such, it is unlikely that every single day of the season will be spent waterproofing. The ideal candidate would be willing to aid in other projects; mostly concrete cutting and excavation.
We are seeking an experienced Hot Tar Waterproofer to join our construction team. This role involves applying hot tar and waterproofing materials to protect structures from water damage, ensuring durability and longevity. The ideal candidate will have experience working with various hand tools and construction techniques, with a focus on waterproofing applications. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects, including concrete restoration, finishing, cutting and of course, waterproofing.
Duties
- Prepare surfaces for waterproofing by cleaning, sanding, and applying primer as needed
- Apply hot tar using appropriate tools and techniques to roofs, decks, and foundations
- Use hand tools such as trowels, brushes, and caulking guns to ensure proper application of waterproofing materials
- Read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to accurately follow project specifications
- Inspect completed work for quality assurance and adherence to safety standards
- Assist with related tasks such as construction painting, plumbing, or flooring installation when required
- Maintain a clean work environment and ensure all safety protocols are followed during application processes
Experience
- Prior experience in construction or waterproofing is highly desirable
- Familiarity with hand tools, caulking, welding, carpentry, and flooring installation is a plus
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics for accurate project execution
- Knowledge of restoration techniques and construction painting beneficial
- Experience working with plumbing systems or tile laying is advantageous
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to working with hot tar and roofing materials
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift heavy materials as needed

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00-$50.00 per hour
