DESCRIPTION
The Transload Operator is responsible for monitoring the safe and efficient operation of the transload facility. While working with a high level of independence, this position will be responsible for minor maintenance and general upkeep of the facility and grounds.
This role requires a strong safety mindset, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with logistics, planning teams, and site personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SAFETY FOCUS
- Follow all Wayfinder Corp. and OHS safety policies
- Participating in safety meetings
- Hazard ID’s submission and solutions reviewed with individuals who reported
- Identify and report any safety hazards or unsafe work practices
Site Documentation & Communication
- Completion of daily check list and pre inspection sheets to ensure equipment and systems are maintained routinely throughout shift
- Communication through two-way radios with on-site team in a professional manner
- Communicating with the Manager when irregularities or process malfunctions occur
- Completion of assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner with minimal supervision
- Generate required regulatory documents (Bills of Lading) and complete shift reporting
Operating Transload and Inventory Control
- Professional and courteous communication with incoming truck drivers to aid with concerns and provide exceptional customer service
- Completion of tickets pertaining to incoming loadout information in a timely manner
- Staying up to date on current sales orders, clients, and silo inventories to ensure product goes out to the highest standard
- Monitoring and ensuring accurate loadout, while providing feedback and process improvement recommendations to the Manager
- Direct trucks and assist with loading and unloading sand safely and efficiently through effective radio communications
- Verify product type and material content prior to receiving and unloading to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met
- Monitor silo levels and communicate status updates to Logistics and Planning teams
Facility Maintenance
- Perform routine facility maintenance and minor repairs including greasing, cleaning, and housekeeping using facility equipment (skid steer, forklift, mounted plow and sander)
- Support with general labor for required site maintenance such as clean-up for tail pulleys and high build up areas to ensure belts are tracking properly
- Conduct snow and ice removal, site upkeep, and general grounds maintenance
- Identify, document and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or system issues
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for facility SOP upkeep
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & REQUIREMENTS
- Previous Transload or Bulk Plant Experience is Strongly Preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability is required
- Strong communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Work 7-on / 7-off schedule (days & nights)
- Work outdoors in all conditions, at heights up to 150ft
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract
