Your Position: We’re looking for someone to be a part of our Production Team as a CNC Machinist. You would be contributing to the team by:
- Running CNC machines – you will run between 3 and 5 CNC machines and be responsible for their production numbers
- Producing parts to drawing specification – you will be responsible for measuring the parts you produced and ensuring they are to customer specification before you submit your tray to Quality
- Monitoring your machines – as a CNC Machinist you will ensure your machine is in control by keeping it clean and performing any necessary adjustments and tool changes
Your team will include other CNC Machinists, Quality inspectors, the Plant Supervisor, and the General Manager.
Your Pay: Pay range is $20 - $23 / hr to start based upon experience, your ability to be productive independently and your contribution to the alfa team. We review pay annually and it increases with ability as well as dedication and effort (e.g. how independent you are; your knowledge of your daily tasks; your attendance and punctuality; in a small company we know WHO does WHAT! Your effort will not go unnoticed here).
Your Shift: The CNC Machinist is a day and afternoon shift position, we need people on both. Day shift is 6:30 am to 3:30 pm and afternoon shift is 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm.
Your Working Conditions: The CNC Machinist will spend 100% of their time in the plant environment. Walking and lifting will be part of your daily routine. Exercise that includes standing, walking and lifting are all part of the job!
Your Responsibilities:
- Operate between 3 and 5 CNC machines
- Become confident running your CNC machines and learning how to perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting activities
- Read blueprints in detail to properly assess part requirements
- Use precision quality measurement tools with care and skill to conduct inspections on your parts
- Collect and record data timely and accurately on part dimensions
- Keep your machines in control by performing adjustments and identifying and properly installing the correct inserts, tooling and clamping fixtures
- Communicate regularly with Production and Quality so that both teams are aware of any potential quality or schedule issues
What skills you should have:
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to multitask to keep multiple machines running and producing good parts
- Confidence using basic math skills
- Excellence at communicating with team members
- Comfortable lifting up to 25 lbs
- Demonstrated strong work ethic with a determination to complete duties well and on time
- Commitment and responsibility towards quality of work completed daily
- Knowledge of precision measuring devices
- Ability to read a part drawing and interpret customer requirements
- Comfortable working in a factory environment
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand machining is an asset
What experience you should have:
- 1 to 3 years CNC experience (preferred)
- Experience working in a small organization
- Experience with metal manufacturing is an asset
- Automotive experience is an asset
