Location
The catchment area for this position is Muskoka, including Huntsville, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, and surrounding areas. The Program Facilitator meets with participants in various community locations across the Muskoka region as needed. All season, travel using reliable personal vehicle throughout the Muskoka region is required. This position may be required to attend agency offices such as Alex’s Place at 49B Pine Street, Bracebridge, and the main office of Elizabeth Fry Society Simcoe Muskoka, located at 102 Maple Avenue, Barrie.
Accountability/Management Team
As a member of the Muskoka Programs team, this position reports to the Manager of Muskoka Programs and attends Muskoka Program team meetings.
Responsibilities
- Provide psycho-educational community programs (Emotions Management, Healthy Relationships, Harm Reduction, Anti-theft, and Grief and Loss) across the Muskoka region. Rural and Remote community programs are facilitated individually, in groups and workshops, to participants of all genders.
- Conduct intakes, one-on-ones, and group sessions.
- Coordinate with community partners and the legal system for participants who are mandated to complete programs.
- Communicate and maintain strong professional relationships with community partners such as Probation and Parole, HANDS, CMHA, OW, etc.
- Promote the agency and develop new relationships in the communities where services are provided.
- Must be able to work independently, maintaining a schedule with little daily supervision.
- Work flexible hours with occasional evenings to accommodate participant needs.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality, high caseloads, and factual participant files.
- Maintain regular communication and check-ins with the Manager of Muskoka Programs.
- Practice Mission, Vision and Values of Elizabeth Fry Society of Simcoe Muskoka.
- Follow all agency and department protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Represent Elizabeth Fry Society of Simcoe Muskoka in a professional manner at all times, maintaining a positive, cooperative, supportive attitude, and appearance.
- Participate in agency events as required, including but not limited to, Elizabeth Fry week, all-agency meetings, bingo, clean up days, chores, etc.
- All other responsibilities as directed by any agency Manager.
Education/Experience
- Academic degree or diploma in social work, sociology, criminology, psychology, BSW or equivalent training and experience.
- Experience in the not-for-profit, social service sector, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in program delivery.
- Experience in group facilitation and provision of one-on-one psychoeducational sessions.
- Experience working with communities who face multiple barriers such as poverty, isolation, lack of mobility, difficulty accessing programs and service, physical isolation, discrimination, criminalization, and lack of housing.
- An awareness of and commitment to issues facing participants with a thorough understanding of racism, classism, sexism, homophobia, and violence against women, and LGBTQIA+ communities.
- Ability to work with participants who present with moderate to severe mental health issues.
- Strong crisis intervention skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for all seasons.
- CRC, CPR, and First Aid certified.
- Complete Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft for word processing, presentations, data collection and management, Outlook, and internet.
- Must have excellent Interpersonal skills; active listening, assertive communication, empathy, compassion, patience and able to be nonjudgmental with participants and service providers at all times.
- Bi-lingual in French and English is an asset.

Pay: $23.92 per hour
