About the role
The Training + Development Lead is responsible for developing, managing, tracking, and continuously improving the company’s training and learning programs across all departments. This role ensures employees receive consistent operational training, leadership development, safety and compliance education, and ongoing opportunities for professional growth. The position plays an important role in strengthening workforce capability, supporting operational consistency, and promoting a culture of continuous learning throughout the organization.
Focus Area: Training and development, process/continuous improvement, safety and compliance, cross-department collaboration, operational excellence.
What you’ll do
Training Strategy and Organizational Development
- Develop and implement the company’s overall training and development strategy.
- Identify training needs in collaboration with department leaders.
- Create training frameworks and role-specific development plans.
- Establish long-term learning and development initiatives that align with company objectives and values.
Training Program Management
- Develop, organize, and maintain training materials including SOPs, manuals, presentations, videos, and digital resources.
- Coordinate and deliver internal training sessions and workshops.
- Manage external certifications, vendors, and educational partnerships as required.
- Maintain training schedules, records, certifications, and compliance documentation.
Operational and Compliance Training
- Support operational consistency through standardized process and systematic training.
- Work closely with department managers and the Health and Safety team to ensure training requirements are met.
Leadership and Career Development
- Create and support leadership development programs for supervisors and managers.
- Assist with succession planning and internal employee growth pathways.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and development across the organization.
- Support cross-training and mentorship initiatives.
Performance and Reporting
- Track training completion, effectiveness, and participation metrics.
- Evaluate program outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide leadership with reporting on training progress, gaps, and development initiatives.
What you bring
- Experience: Minimum 2 - 3 years of experience in Training + Development.
- Experience creating, implementing, and managing company-wide training programs and learning initiatives.
- Experience in construction, operations, industrial, or field-based environments is considered an asset.
- Education: Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience using LMS, training databases, and/or SOP software. Experience with Whale is an asset.
- Core Skills: Organizational, project management, continuous improvement, leadership, and coaching.
- Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of training documentation, competency tracking, and performance measurement. Strong knowledge of safety compliance and workforce development programs.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills for relationship building and cross-department collaboration.
