Protrans Personnel is currently hiring for a full-time Yard Mechanic position in Montreal.
Position: Yard Mechanic
Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay Rate: $25.00/hour
Location: Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC
Responsible for maintaining and repairing transportation equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Perform daily repairs and maintenance on trailers and equipment
- Complete minor repairs independently or coordinate with the shop when required
- Conduct inspections and repairs on trucks and refrigeration units as needed
- Assist the shop team with repairs or respond to road calls when required
- Communicate with supervisors and dispatch regarding equipment issues or breakdowns
- Support troubleshooting over the phone when necessary
- Assist with general building maintenance tasks when required
- Perform weekly inspections of service vehicles (engine, oil, tires, etc.) and complete repairs immediately if needed
- Manage inventory and supplies for the mobile service unit
- Remain available to respond to service calls as required
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Minimum 6 months of relevant mechanical experience
- Mechanical certification (DEP) preferred or experience as an automotive mechanic
- Class 5 driver’s license (or in the process of obtaining) preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment
- Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude
- Good communication skills (bilingual preferred)
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office or similar systems)
- Honest, dependable, and trustworthy
- Must have own toolbox
