About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to lead and strengthen our internal financial operations. Based in Markham, this role is ideal for a professional with deep expertise in corporate accounting, financial reporting, and Canadian tax compliance. You will work closely with management to ensure financial accuracy, streamline processes, and contribute to the company’s continued success in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Accounting: Oversee all functions including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements and internal management reports for leadership.
- Tax & Compliance: Handle GST/HST and corporate tax filings; ensure strict adherence to Canadian financial legislation and internal policies.
- Operations Management: Manage accounts payable and receivable; support budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control initiatives.
- Audit Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for external accountants and auditors.
- Leadership: Supervise or mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Canadian tax regulations and GAAP. Experience in a public accounting firm is highly valued.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online/Desktop and advanced Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, etc.).
- Communication: Fluency in both English and Mandarin is an asset (verbal and written) to facilitate communication with stakeholders and partners.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
