Prep Cook / Dishwasher (Part-Time / Casual to Start)
Catering & Event Venue Kitchen Team
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Prep Cook / Dishwasher to join our kitchen team at a busy event venue and catering company. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen, takes pride in maintaining a clean workspace, and has a solid foundation in basic cooking skills.
This position will begin as part-time/casual, with hours increasing as the wedding and event season ramps up. Shifts may vary from daytime on weekdays to evenings and weekends, dependent on the needs of the catering kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients for corporate catering and served events, including chopping, portioning, and assembling recipes
- Assist with basic cooking tasks and preparation of menu items made from scratch
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, prep areas, and storage spaces
- Operate and manage the dishwashing station efficiently during work day and events
- Assist with plating and presentation of meals for plated service, ensuring consistency and attention to detail.
- Help maintain buffet stations during events, including replenishing food, monitoring presentation, and ensuring cleanliness and food safety standards are upheld.
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen experience required (prep cook experience preferred)
- Comfortable using kitchen knives and basic kitchen equipment
- Experience cooking or preparing food from scratch
- Food Safe Level 1 certificate
- Ability to stay organized and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs
- Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods of time
- Comfortable working in a busy kitchen environment
Schedule
- Part-time / casual hours to start
- Evening and weekend availability required
- Hours will increase as event and wedding season approaches
