WAGE RATE: $37.071 – $38.157
Reporting to the Manager of Surgical Services, the responsibility of the Registered Practical Nurse is the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care of, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means to adults and children during their pre and post anesthetic phase.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility
- Current BCLS
- Successful completion of Post Anaesthetic Course within the last 3 years
- Physical Assessment Course or equivalent
- 2 years recent acute care surgical nursing experience
- Broad knowledge in all the surgical sub specialties performed at Brightshores
- Venipunctures to establish an IV required
- IV medications above the drip chamber required
- Power Chart and Power Chart Order entry
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
- Ability to work all shifts
- Demonstrated leadership problem solving, decision making, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated interviewing and patient assessment skills
- Demonstrated interest and experience in patient education and health promotion
- Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
