IT Software Developer:
Accountabilities:
The successful candidate will join our IT team , to maintain and enhance ArcelorMittal Windsor’s Information Technology.
The candidate will be involved with, but not limited to the following:
- Responsible for maintaining development tasks in our in-house Coil Control System.
- Write modules of logic based on written or verbal specifications with the guidance of a senior developer using object oriented Pascal in the Delphi development environment against an SQL database.
- C programming on a process control system.
- Level II and Level III Automated Surface Inspection System.
- Perform unit testing and submits programs for peer review.
- Ensures development adheres to AMW IT departmental standards.
- Provides resource estimates for small to medium components of software applications in support of project planning and scheduling tasks.
- Participates in resolving simple day-to-day data integrity problems while interacting directly with internal business users.
- Collaborate with other team members to deliver complete functional solutions.
- Assist with maintaining EDI communication with outside companies.
- Assist with maintaining computer hardware, software, network infrastructure and various Windows operating systems.
- Assist with after-hours support of various systems after gaining necessary experience.
Education & Experience:
- University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Consideration will be given to candidates with a degree/diploma in other Engineering disciplines provided they have relatable work experience.
- Minimum 1-5 years of work experience in a related role is required.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Must demonstrate an aptitude and overall familiarity with Information Technology.
- Requires knowledge of Windows operating systems and related hardware.
- Familiarity with programming languages, Pascal and C preferred.
- Familiarity with object oriented programming environments, such as Delphi or Visual Studio.
- Must have experience with SQL data access in the above mentioned programming languages. Database admin experience a bonus.
- Must be able to interpret application design into coding and produce optimized software solutions compliant with corporate development standards under the guidance of senior developers.
- Requires a basic knowledge of unit testing. Must be able to perform full unit testing on all components of a program as experience is built.
- Must be able to work under pressure to meet project deadlines, without compromising quality.
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Possess adequate problem solving skills and a systematic approach to decision making, taking into consideration the impact of each decision.
- Must have working level experience with Microsoft Office tools; Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Must be able to evaluate, understand and interact with new software and hardware technologies on an as needed basis.
- Requires the physical ability to move computer, network and printer equipment.
Work Environment:
- Candidates are expected to work in both a manufacturing and plant office environment.
- The manufacturing plant environment includes exposure to dust, chemicals, temperature changes, noise and large industrial equipment.
Hours of Work:
- ArcelorMittal Windsor is a 24/7 facility
- Normal hours of work for this position is “days”, Monday to Friday, with extended hours as required to meet project deadlines or resulting from periods of peak workload.
- Company travel varying from local to international may be required
