POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Mechanical Drafter is responsible for producing, validating, and controlling complex mechanical drawings for railway door systems and related electromechanical assemblies.
This role acts as a technical authority in SolidWorks, ensuring that drawings are accurate, manufacturable, and compliant with engineering standards. The Senior Drafter supports Engineering, Production, and Project Management while contributing to the structure and discipline of the drafting department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Mechanical Drafting & Modeling
- Produce complex 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks
- Generate detailed manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and BOMs
- Apply proper tolerances and drawing standards
Drawing Review & Validation
- Review and validate drawings produced by other drafters
- Ensure compliance with internal standards and revision control
- Implement corrections when required
Engineering Support
- Work closely with Mechanical and System Engineers
- Support production during manufacturing launch
- Assist with technical documentation updates
Department Development
- Contribute to drafting standards and best practices
- Support structuring of SolidWorks Vault organization
- Help establish drafting quality control processes
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- DEC / AEC / DEP in Mechanical Drafting or related field
- Minimum 8 years drafting experience
- Advanced SolidWorks expertise (assembly modeling, configurations, BOMs)
- Experience in manufacturing or electromechanical systems
- Strong attention to detail and technical judgment
- Comfortable reviewing and validating peer drawings
- Bilingual (asset)
