Adult Community Services provides a wide range of addiction and mental health treatment to the residents of the City of Edmonton and surrounding suburban areas. The ACS program provides quality, client focused, recovery based, concurrent capable, culturally appropriate care to those seeking supports/services within Mental Health and Addiction. Services are offered to clients and their families in the least intrusive and most appropriate manner and include assessment, individual and group treatment and consultation. Interventions may be done in the clinic, community, or in a client’s home, dependent on the identified needs. In the Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) position, you will work within an interdisciplinary team to provide individual supportive counselling and case management to clients with a wide variety of clinical presentations. The RN/RPN engages clients in ongoing mental status assessment, risk assessment, supportive therapy and case management including medication administration, coverage and other financial assistance for clients with complex addiction and mental health needs. Works collaboratively with the client’s primary care provider to transition care back to their medical home once stabilized. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of addiction and mental health assessment and diagnosis and be able to navigate within both the health system as well as with external stakeholders to ensure the coordination of services to best meet the client’s needs. This candidate will be able to multitask and effectively manage multiple priorities and demands with a large caseload. This candidate will have a good working knowledge of legislation regarding mental health care including the Alberta Mental Health Act and Community Treatment Orders.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:
Full registration with College of Registered Nurses of Alberta or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta. Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health experience, preferably in a community setting. Knowledge and experience with mental health assessment. Knowledge and experience treating individuals experiencing addiction (substance and/or process).
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community. A strong understanding of client resources in the community and knowledge of mental health legislation including Community Treatment Orders is an asset.
