Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Food Expeditor/Food Runner to join our dynamic restaurant team. In this role, you will act as a vital link between the kitchen and front-of-house staff, ensuring that food is prepared, plated, and delivered to guests efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of food safety and service standards. Responsibilities
- Retrieve prepared dishes from the kitchen and verify accuracy before delivery
- Ensure food presentation meets quality standards and is served promptly
- Assist servers in delivering food to tables efficiently while maintaining guest satisfaction
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff regarding order status and special requests
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, including clearing tables and organizing service stations
- Support food preparation tasks as needed, including plating and garnishing
- Handle food safely in accordance with health regulations and company policies
- Assist with basic cashiering duties using POS systems such as Square POS when required
- Restock supplies and ensure all service utensils are clean and ready for use
- Contribute to a positive guest experience through friendly interaction and attentive service
- Bag Take-Out orders, labelling the bags and ensuring items leave the restaurant accurately.
Skills
- Prior experience in food service, restaurant, or hospitality environments preferred
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Knowledge of food handling, safety standards, and proper sanitation procedures
- Experience with POS systems such as Micros POS or similar platforms
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Kitchen experience or background in food preparation is advantageous
- Familiarity with serving, cashiering, and meal preparation processes
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and front-of-house team members
- Hospitality experience including hotel or barista roles is a plus
- Good physical stamina to stand for extended periods and carry trays or dishes as needed
