Bug Order Inc. is a pet store supply company, operating at its current location on a heritage family farm for the last 20 years. We raise and provide feeder insects and rodents to pet stores and reptile breeders across western Canada. We also work with a variety of other pet animals and products. Bug Order has continued to grow in size and structure over the years, and as such we require talented and competent staff to join our team.
We are hiring for multiple positions, some full time and some part time. We offer indoor, year round, steady and consistent work. The weekly routine mainly includes Monday - Friday typically 7 am - 3:30 pm hours, but we are also flexible on start times and days. Some weekend work is also available after a probationary training period.
As this is a niche market, we realize that not many people have direct experience in our line of work. That’s why we mostly hire for culture and competence. Successful candidates will be willing to learn, willing to work, and willing to get dirty sometimes. Because we work in live production systems, consistency is key. We do expect our employees to be punctual and attend their shifts to ensure the animals receive optimal care. Attention to detail and ability to follow systems and solve problems on the fly are key. Of course, experience with livestock production would be considered an asset, but it is not a requirement. All work in our facility requires standing for 8 hours per day, some work on ladders, some work in warm and humid conditions, good communication and a good attitude toward work.
