Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Framing Carpenter, Lead Hand, to oversee and participate in framing projects on commercial and residential construction sites. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive carpentry expertise, and the ability to interpret detailed schematics and blueprints. This role involves coordinating team efforts, ensuring safety standards, and delivering high-quality craftsmanship in all framing tasks. The position offers an opportunity to lead a team of skilled workers while contributing to the successful completion of construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of carpenters on complex framing projects, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to accurately execute framing layouts
- Perform framing tasks including wall, floor, roof, and ceiling assemblies using hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment
- Operate heavy equipment safely for lifting and moving materials around the job site
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and quality standards
- Report to and follow direction from framing manager to keep job on time and to standard.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while managing multiple tasks simultaneously
Experience
- Proven experience in carpentry with a focus on framing in residential construction environments
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, concrete forming, siding installation, restoration techniques, welding, and woodworking
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment operation, and concrete finishing techniques
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience leading a team
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently for extended periods
- Construction experience that includes working with heavy machinery and adhering to safety protocols is preferred
- Certification or training or heavy equipment operation is a plus but not mandatory
This role requires a reliable professional committed to quality craftsmanship and safety standards. The Lead Hand will report to the department manager and play a vital role in guiding the team through complex projects while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Pay: $28.00-$36.00 per hour
